Britney Spears Wants Her Father Removed As Sole Conservator

Britney Spears’s court-appointed attorney filed a new court document stating that the pop star wants her father Jamie Spears, out as sole conservator over her estate. Instead, according to TMZ, Britney is believed to want the woman she has worked with since last Fall to be the permanent conservator over her regular person.

Under a conservatorship, Britney has no control over her own financial and business affairs. The pop star is unable to make critical personal or financial decisions without the approval of her conservators, which has raised concerns among fans.

In the report, the pop star’s lawyers say that she prefers to have Jodi Montgomery as sole conservator. She has been appointed as the temporary conservator over Britney’s person for almost a year.

Regarding her business affairs, the documents say that Britney doesn’t want her father to be the only person managing her estate anymore. Instead, her lawyer states that she would rather a “qualified corporate fiduciary” to oversee the business affairs of her property. However, it is uncertain if Britney wants her father involved as a co-conservator at all.

Sources close to the situation say there have been discussions about adding a corporate fiduciary, which is said to, more than likely, be a bank, but also that conversations have included Britney’s father staying on as co-conservator of her estate, the outlet added.

Earlier this month (Aug 1), Jaime interviewed with the New York Post, following the viral social media movement, #FreeBritney, which called for an end to the singer’s conservatorship, citing theories and claims that Jaime was brainwashing Britney to control her properties.

“All these conspiracy theorists don’t know anything,” he said. “The world don’t have a clue. It’s up to the court of California to decide what’s best for my daughter. It’s no one else’s business.” He added of his daughter’s finances, “I have to report every nickel and dime spent to the court every year. How the hell would I steal something?”

The singer has never truly addressed the conservatorship, but she did allude to it in her 2008 documentary Britney: For the Record. “If I wasn’t under the restraints, I’m under, I’d feel so liberated,” Spears said. “Even when you go to jail, you know there’s the time when you’re going to get out. But in this situation, it’s never-ending.”

The docs also note that Britney no longer wants to perform at a Vegas residency. The attorney says a major restructure in how the singer’s conservatorship is run is needed to reflect her current lifestyle and wishes.

Britney’s attorney is seeking input on these matters from all others involved in her conservatorship. There’s a hearing on the matter on Wednesday (Aug 19).
