Hip-hop powerhouse Busta Rhymes will receive the 2,818th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday, August 1, at 6201 Hollywood Boulevard. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce confirmed the honor in the Recording category.
Big Boy will host the event, with tributes from Chris Rock, LL Cool J, and Chuck D.
With over 20 million albums sold, 12 Grammy nominations, and more than 60 million certified units, Busta’s impact on music is undeniable. Jay-Z and KRS-One have hailed him as “the greatest performer of all time.” Phife Dawg once called him “the James Brown of hip-hop.”
Born in Brooklyn and raised on Long Island, Busta first rose to fame with Leaders of the New School before launching a groundbreaking solo career. Classics like “Break Ya Neck,” “Touch It,” and “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See” followed.
He’s worked with everyone from Mariah Carey and Eminem to Missy Elliott and Dave Chappelle. Awards include the 2022 BMI Icon Award and a Guinness World Record for “Break Ya Neck.”
His acting resume includes roles in Higher Learning and Shaft, and he appears in the new “Naked Gun” reboot dropping August 1.
He also serves as an ambassador for Global Citizens, St. Jude, and MusiCares.
