Busta Rhymes will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s BET Awards.
According to Billboard, Rhymes will be recognized and celebrated by his peers on this upcoming Sunday. The event will feature tributes from artists such as Coi LeRay and Rah Digga, highlighting his remarkable three-decade-long career.
“Busta Rhymes is a multifaceted, award-winning artist who has mesmerized audiences for decades with his original hip-hop sound and one-of-a-kind visuals,” Scott Mills, CEO of BET, said. “He continues to leave an indelible mark on the culture that we hold dear. And it is with great pride that we present this year’s lifetime achievement award to a visionary, a master of rhyme, and a true pioneer.”
In spite of having a thirty-year career in Hip Hop, Rhymes continues to create music that remains current and significant in the 21st century. Just recently, the renowned artist collaborated with BIA to release their first summer anthem titled “Beach Ball.” The track, set to appear on Rhymes’ upcoming album, showcases lively beats, infectious rhymes, and the dark and profound cadence that Rhymes is known for, while BIA delivers her signature provocative style at its best.
Nevertheless, Rhymes will join the esteemed ranks of previous recipients as the third rapper to receive the distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award. Hip Hop artists Queen Latifah and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs have been previously honored with this prestigious recognition.
