On a recent episode of his It Is What It Is podcast, Cam’ron opened up about his complicated relationship with fellow Dipset member Jim Jones. The Harlem rapper held nothing back, revisiting their origins and accusing Jones of misrepresenting his history within the group and their Harlem roots.

Cam’ron began by addressing Jones’ claim of growing up alongside him and the Dipset crew in Harlem. He refuted these assertions, stating, “You were a fan, nigga. You begged us. You didn’t grow up with us.”
“I’m from 140th and Lennox, NFL, up the block from 40 Wolves. I don’t remember seeing you around any of that,” Cam’ron said, making it clear he felt Jones inserted himself into Harlem’s narrative after the fact.
Cam’ron went on to explain how Jim Jones became part of Dipset, crediting Mase for teaching Jones how to rap. “Mase actually sat you down and showed you how to rap,” Cam said. He revealed that Jones was initially brought into the group because he was seen as “a nice guy” and had a free crib where they could hang out.
“You didn’t make Dipset; we made you,” Cam asserted.
The discussion shifted to Jones’ history of reconciling with individuals he’s had conflicts with, including C. Gutta, Tru Life, and French Montana. Cam’ron expressed disbelief over Jones attending a movie premiere where he was allegedly dissed in the film.
“You sitting in the crowd watching them diss you in the movie? Come on, bro,” he said.
Cam’ron also recounted an incident where Jones attempted to press Maino early in Maino’s career, only for the rapper to stand his ground. Now, the two are collaborators as part of the Lobby Boyz.
Despite him going in on Jones, Cam’ron clarified that he harbors no ill will toward Jones’ reconciliations. “I think it’s cool you’re making peace with everybody,” he said. However, he criticized Jones for continuing to provoke those who have shown him genuine love.
“You keep going on and on with people who actually care about you, but when someone puts pressure on you, you cool it out,” Cam observed.
