Cam’ron and Mase aren’t holding back after journalist Elliott Wilson criticized their sports show, It Is What It Is. The show’s Instagram account fired shots at Wilson late Tuesday night, accusing him of being out of touch and salty about their success in media.
The post read, “THE YEAR JUST STARTED & WE JUST CHILLING MINDING OUR BUSINESS SIPPING [champagne emoji]. HERE COME THIS ‘CUBAN GOODING JR’ LOOKING MUTHAFU*KA WITH HIS SALTY HATING AZZ,” along with a direct tag to Wilson. The caption continued with jabs, calling Wilson “washed” and asserting that It Is What It Is has become the new go-to platform for news, ending with, “YOU A BONA FIDE HATER AT ITS FINEST.”
In another fiery post, the duo addressed Wilson directly, noting that he follows their page while they don’t return the favor. “CURVE,” the post declared, adding, “YA BREATH STANK. IF ‘PUN’ WAS ALIVE HE WILL TELL YOU GO THAT WAY.”
The back-and-forth began after Wilson appeared on the Rory and Mal podcast, where he suggested that figures like Cam’ron, while popular, lack the journalistic credentials to truly compete in media. He credited Cam’s celebrity status for his success but critiqued his interview style, calling it “cringeworthy.”
“Everybody’s media,” Wilson said on the podcast. “Summer Walker is media. Cam’ron is running around like he’s Stephen A. Smith. It’s what we’re doing now.” He also argued that while athletes like Shannon Sharpe and Charles Barkley transition naturally into media, musicians don’t have the same credibility.
“It’s not easy, but I don’t like it…. Imagine, like, this is the sht I do well, and now everybody wants to do it. I don’t like that sht and not be a hater,” Wilson added.
Cam’ron and Mase’s response reflects their confidence in their platform’s success. Known for its humor and unapologetic approach, It Is What It Is has gained traction, proving that celebrity-driven media ventures can thrive without traditional journalism credentials.
