Cardi B and Offset are in hot water for allegedly failing to pay for the mansion used in her “Like What” video.
According to newly filed court documents, the owner of the lavish Beverly Hills property featured throughout Cardi’s March visual claims they were misled about the true purpose of the filming. Apparently, the Bronx star, her team, and her husband Offset, who directed the video, spun a story that the shoot was for a simple TikTok video, not a full-blown music production, convincing the homeowner to offer up the mansion for nearly no cost.
The owner says they decided to skip their usual short-term rental agreement since the video was supposed to be a short TikTok clip. Additionally, they were not informed that the celeb in question was Cardi. The “Like What” video has racked up over 27 million views in just six months, with the mansion and all its luxury clearly visible. Since she has been able to profit from the video, the homeowner is now looking to get their cut to the tune of $35,000.
Not one to back down, Cardi says she paid the homeowner $10,000 cash to use the home, which completely refutes his claims.
“We paid those people $10,000 IN CASH to rent the property for a whole 24 hours that same day 6am to 6am the next morning and we went over by ONE hour which we paid overage fees to the realtor for in March. There was cameras all over and both the realtors and the owners was there the ENTIRE time,” Cardi tweeted. “I got pics and videos of them on set!! Now they wanna finesse us trying to say we told them it was a TikTok video when that was nowhere in the contract and like they didn’t hear the whole song playing and see how long we was shooting….Why would it take us 24 hours to shoot a TikTok? The problem is people wanna find loopholes and get over but IRON YOUR BEST SUIT B***H I’ll see you in court!!!!”
