Cardi B and her Met Gala appearance have been the topic of social media for both good and bad reasons.Â
The “Bodak Yellow” star was slammed for failing to remember the name of her dress designer and instead referring to him as “Asian and everything” during the star-studded event. Many accused her of being racist, which is something Cardi fiercely denied, claiming she simply had a forgetful moment.  From this also birthed the rumor that she was never invited to the Met Gala by Vogue to begin with. Instead, there was speculation that she was requested by Instagram, who sponsored a table.Â
Cardi, who has been a staple at the Met year after year, shut down such a notion by sharing her “Get ready with me for the Met Gala,” which was featured on Vogue’s YouTube channel.Â
Vogue Director Gilbert Cheah also called out Cardi earlier in the day for failing to recognize Chinese designer Sensen Lii by his name at the Met.Â
“For the record and recognition, and no thanks to Cardi B, the designer of her gown is Sensen Lii who’s Chinese. The gown took two months to make.  I personally think it’s boring and not even on theme but she chose it and should have at least remembered his name and not just that he’s ‘Asian‘” Cheah wrote on Instagram.Â
She would eventually acknowledge the designer on Twitter, writing, “I have to give another thank you to Windowsen by Sensen Lii!!! I chose you because of your amazing talent, and you came through really making this Met Gala a night to remember.“ Unfortunately, by that time, the internet was already on her neck.
