Exit Cam Newton and enter Teddy Bridgewater. The former back-up QB for New Orleans Saints is in the early stages of finalizing a three-year deal with Carolina Panthers, worth 63-million dollars.
Bridgewater, 27, started five games for the New Orleans Saints in 2019 while Drew Brees recovered from thumb surgery.
Bridgewater performed at a level he hadn’t reached since earning a Pro Bowl selection 2015. The baller completed 67.9 percent of his passes for 1,384 yards with nine touchdowns and two interceptions combined in his nine appearances with the Saints.
The signing of Bridgewater pretty much ended Cam Newton’s time as the Carolina QB.
Earlier this week, the Carolina Panthers posted on IG that they’re given ”permission” for Cam Newton to seek a trade. But for Cam, 30, said he was being ”forced out.”
Newton, a three-time Pro Bowler, a 2015 first-team All-Pro selection, spent his entire career with the Panthers, winning NFL MVP in 2015, and leading the team to the playoffs four times and the Super Bowl in the 2015 season.
However, injuries began to pile up that affected his play.
Playing in two games in 2019 because of a Lisfranc injury in his left foot, he hasn’t replicated the magic of the 2015 season which saw his throw for 3,837 yards, 35 touchdowns, 10 interceptions, 636 rushing yards, 10 rushing touchdowns.
