Investigators are uncovering disturbing new details in the death of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas, whose partially frozen and decapitated body was found stuffed in the trunk of singer D4vd’s Tesla. Nearly three months later, the case has taken an even darker turn as detectives focus on digital evidence and a possible second suspect.
Authorities have yet to determine a cause of death, leaving questions unanswered in what is being treated as an apparent homicide.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner received Rivas’ body in extremely compromised condition.
According to TMZ, the teenager was reportedly decapitated, and her limbs were removed, though her torso remained intact. The state of the body initially made it difficult for investigators to identify her sex. Additionally, the body was partially frozen and was thawing at the time it was recovered from the vehicle.
Even with the cause of death undetermined, legal experts note that law enforcement can proceed with arrests based on other evidence.
In this case, authorities have reportedly focused on D4vd, the singer whose Tesla contained Rivas’ body. The artist has been uncooperative and has not yet participated in interviews with investigators.
Attention is also turning to a potential second suspect. Attorney Mark Geragos, speaking on the 2 Angry Men podcast, claimed that digital evidence indicates involvement of another individual “before, during and after” Rivas’ death.
Podcast co-host Harvey Levin added that a late-night trip D4vd took last spring to a remote area of Santa Barbara County has become a focal point for investigators. They believe the teenager’s body was already in the car at the time, and that the second suspect may have been present.
As the investigation progresses, authorities are combining digital leads and physical evidence to understand the circumstances surrounding Rivas’ death and to identify all individuals involved.
As detectives widen their search, officials say they are evaluating GPS data, phone records, and social media communications tied to both the singer and the suspected second individual. Authorities believe these digital trails could reveal where Celeste was taken in the hours before her death, and who else may have been involved. The investigation remains active, and officials expect more developments in the coming weeks.
