Since Kanye West’s return to Twitter, the rapper has dominated headlines with reports of an alleged opioid addiction, his previous mental health issues and the current state of Yeezy brand.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
However, the story that gained the most traction, among Black Twitter, was West’s support of Donald Trump and his ring-wing followers.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
After the rapper professed his love for the Celebrity-in-Chief and co-signed the new token black conservative, Candace Owens, he took to Twitter to explain his reasoning.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In turn, Trump appreciated the kind words and replied with thanks. But, in regard to the rest of Twitter, ‘Ye is pretty much canceled.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
However, there were a few people to come to the rapper’s defense after he claimed to love Trump and called out Barack Obama for the lack of change in Chicago during his presidency: Kim K and Chance the Rapper.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In a short but sweet tweet of support after retweeting several tweets from the G.O.O.D Music boss, the rapper wrote “Black people don’t have to be Democrats,” which prompted a response of gratitude from Trump’s namesake and Owens.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“It’s always incredible to watch a cultural shift happen in real time,” Trump Jr. wrote, while Owens said, “OMG! Another big star who is smart to understand the very simple concept of FREE THiNKING. Thank you @chancetherapper for this tweet. Everyone please RT to show the world that blacks are NOT a monolith.”
