Seahawks player Chad Wheeler was arrested Saturday on suspicion of felony domestic violence.
On Monday, his bail was set at $400,000, and he was ordered to stay away from the alleged victim and turn in all weapons. As of yesterday, he was bonded out of King County Jail.
Today Wheeler is due back in King County District Court for a probable cause hearing.
According to court records, at 1:19 am Saturday, Wheeler was booked into the King County Correctional Facility in Seattle after being suspected of throwing the victim on the bed while choking her out until she lost consciousness. He later picked a lock to the door of the bathroom of a residence in Kent.
In October 2019, Wheeler joined the Seahawks and played five games this season. He is currently a restricted free agent.
In a statement Monday night, the Seahawks said, “We are aware of the situation and still gathering information.”
According to Kent Police Department reports, an officer responded to a call of a woman who locked herself in the bathroom following a “physical fight” with her boyfriend.
The incident started after Wheeler asked his victim to bow down to him. Allegedly the backup offensive tackler had not been taking his bipolar disorder medication.
