Cher has sought a temporary legal conservatorship for her adult son, Elijah Blue Allman, over concerns about his persistent struggles with substance abuse.
“Elijah is entitled to regular distributions from the Trust, but given his ongoing mental health and substance abuse issues,” the documents read. “Petitioner [Cher] is concerned that any funds distributed to Elijah will be immediately spent on drugs, leaving Elijah with no assets to provide for himself and putting Elijah’s life at risk.”
According to the petition, Elijah is set to receive funds from a trust by year-end. The document also highlights that the 77-year-old singer and actress has exerted significant efforts to facilitate Elijah’s entry into treatment and provide him with the necessary assistance.
In October, Cher ended her silence regarding Elijah’s struggles and shared insights into her relationship with her 47-year-old son. This followed a report alleging that she had supposedly enlisted four individuals to forcefully intervene and remove him from a New York City hotel room in November 2022. The claim was made by someone named King in divorce documents filed last December, which have recently come to light.
