CNN host Chris Cuomo is in hot water — and not for refusing to cover his brother, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who is under fire for sexual misconduct allegations. Instead, it’s for making a racially insensitive comment to colleague Don Lemon on-air Friday night.
A video clip of the exchange was widely shared on social media. It shows Cuomo hand over to Lemon while singing the theme to the 1970s TV show “Good Times.”
Lemon, laughing awkwardly, asks Cuomo how he knows the words to the theme song of a series about a Black family living in a public housing project in Chicago.
To which Cuomo responds, “You know I’m Black on the inside.”
Lemon gave his fellow host a pass on the insensitive comment, even singing along with Cuomo. Twitter did not.
Check out some Twitter reactions below, including Cuomo’s response.
Said with all respect to reality and our need to fight this amplification of color animus. there is no understanding what it is to live as a black person in america if you are white but it is so important to listen. The majority must change racism. https://t.co/7XobooqKcu

Chris Cuomo just said to Don Lemon OUT LOUD on Wolf Blitzer’s CNN, “You know I’m Black on the inside,” and we had to turn off the television because I’m not here for that nonsense. @CNN needs to have some sensitivity training with their on-air personalities.
