The ongoing turmoil between actor Columbus Short and his wife, Aida Abramyan-Short, has reached a breaking point, with both parties now under court-issued temporary restraining orders following a string of disturbing accusations.
According to legal documents filed earlier this week, Aida claims that on July 7, while she was doing laundry, Columbus confronted her while heavily intoxicated.
She says he began shouting, “Don’t slam the f*cking door b*tch. Your mouth is gonna get you in trouble! Shut the f*ck up,” before allegedly choking her with both hands. A neighbor, alarmed by her screams for help, reportedly called the police.
Aida’s filing includes photos showing a black eye, bruises, and scratches, which she says are from previous violent encounters with Columbus. She also accuses him of drinking excessively every day, turning aggressive while intoxicated, and once driving under the influence with their children in the car.
She requested the court to order him to stay at least 100 yards away from her and their two sons. However, the judge denied her request for temporary sole custody.
Columbus, meanwhile, filed his own restraining order request, claiming that Aida became physically violent with him and their ten-week-old puppy that same day. In his account, Aida allegedly kicked and threw the dog during an argument. When he stepped in, he says she hit him in the face multiple times, leaving him with a gash above his eye. He also claims she has a pattern of verbal abuse in front of their children, once threatened him with a knife, and even struck him with a glass trophy.
He requested that she be ordered to stay away from him, their kids, and their pets, as well as move out of their home while continuing to cover the rent. Aida was reportedly arrested at the scene after neighbors heard shouting and called for help.
The couple, who married in 2016 and have two young sons, have faced trouble before. Columbus was previously arrested in 2022 for an alleged domestic dispute involving Aida, and his role on “Scandal” ended in 2014 after several legal issues, including a misdemeanor domestic violence conviction.
Both restraining orders are temporary as the court prepares for a hearing that will determine whether long-term protections will be enforced. Neither party has made a public statement since the filings.
