"Come on a Journee with Me to D.C." is Changing the Narrative of Black Fatherhood in America

Come on a Journee with Me to D.C.

Following the success of their best-selling children’s book, “Come on a Journee with Me to NYC,” Fred and Courtney Whitaker have penned their second installment, “Come on a Journee with Me to D.C.”

Released on February 1st to kick off Black History Month, the vibrant picture book catches up with characters Journee and her cousin Briley once again as they embark on a new adventure with their family dog, Oreo. The two main characters join Journee’s father on a work trip to Washington D.C., where they learn about the history of the nation’s capital and meet a new friend, Chance, along the way.

Fred and Courtney’s first book, “Come on a Journee with Me to NYC,” was published in September 2020 and became a huge success. Fred hopes to inspire children and fathers to explore the rich culture of the U.S. and also wishes to change the way Black fathers participate in their children’s lives, despite the family dynamic.

Both Fred and Courtney come from rich entertainment and writing backgrounds. Courtney has developed and worked on several productions, including “VH1’s Hip Hop Squares,” and “Martha & Snoop,” while her writing has appeared in The Beet and XoNecole. Fred is the CEO and manager of the talent agency Journee Enterprises. Under his guidance, acts such as Terrance J and Angela Yee have secured several successful partnerships.

“Come on a Journee with Me to D.C.” can be purchased on www.comeonajournee.com.
