A Connecticut man has been arrested after allegedly decapitating his landlord in a dispute over unpaid rent.
According to the Hartford Courant, 42-year-old Jerry David Thompson was renting a room from Victor King, inside the man’s Asylum Avenue home.
Over the weekend, the two got into an argument over Thompson’s unpaid rent. Sometime during the dispute, Thompson allegedly threatened King with a samurai sword.
On Saturday, King reported the threats to Police, revealing Thompson even waved the sword at him. The next day, friends of the victim said they could not reach him.
By Sunday afternoon, officials forced their way into King’s home, where they found his body slashed and covered in bedding. Six hours later, Thompson was found in Hartford’s North End, about 10 minutes away from King’s home.
However, Thompson refused to speak to Police. Instead, he wrote a note, saying, “paper in glove compart in Jeep is all you need.” When Police retrieved the paper, it identified Thompson as a sovereign citizen or someone who disregards society’s legal systems.
According to reports, Thompson also reportedly refused to speak to investigators and his public defender. He is currently being held on a $2 million bond.
