Conor McGregor wants in on the controversial UFC fight scheduled to take place at the White House.
On July 4th, the embattled Irish fighter hopped on social media to express interest in the UFC event recently proposed by Donald Trump. Trump announced plans to host a fight at the White House in July 2026 to celebrate the country’s 250th anniversary.
“Happy 4th of July, USA,” McGregor posted on Twitter. “Excited with President Trump announcing a UFC fight event at the White House. I would be honoured! Count me in.”

McGregor also posted what appeared to be screenshots of a text conversation with UFC boss Dana White, where he pitched the idea of joining the event. He doubled down by sharing an AI-generated image of himself facing off with a yet-to-be-named opponent on the White House lawn.
According to Trump, the 2026 event would draw up to 25,000 attendees and include a separate competition between standout high school athletes from across the U.S.
McGregor hasn’t stepped into the Octagon since July 2021, when he suffered a brutal leg injury against Dustin Poirier. Though a 2024 comeback fight against Michael Chandler was scheduled, it fell through after McGregor cited a foot injury. His return to fighting remains uncertain, as he continues to face legal challenges stemming from a civil ruling related to a 2018 incident in Dublin.
Still, McGregor’s message is clear: if there’s a historic fight at the White House, he wants in.
