CVS will now offer mental health services at select MinuteClinic locations across the U.S.
The company rolled out the initiative at five MinuteClinics inside CVS HealthHUB store locations in Houston, Texas. This was in response to a mental health decline among Houstonians.
“As of late February 2021, roughly 3-in-10 Houston adults reported feeling anxious or on edge for more than half the days in an average week,” CVS said in a March statement.
Following its debut in Houston, CVS added mental health services in New Jersey, Florida, Pennsylvania, and other Texas cities.
On-site licensed therapists will provide patients with mental health assessments, referrals, counseling, and personalized care plans. Virtual appointments are also an option. Patients may also elect for ongoing sessions, where they can schedule to see the same therapist regularly. The counselors may also offer services outside of their care as needed.
CVS’s Mental health assistance is available to anyone age 18 or over and accepts most insurance plans.
