Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys has filed a lawsuit and a criminal report against a woman who accused him of sexual assault.
According to his lawyers, she demanded $100 million to avoid reporting the accusation to the police, calling it an “extortion plot.”
Prescott’s lawyer, Levi McCarthern, stated in a Monday press release that the allegations of sexual assault against Prescott were “a completely fabricated story.”
“Mr. Prescott, a new father to a baby girl, has great empathy for survivors of sexual assault,” said his legal team. “He fervently believes that all perpetrators of such crimes should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. To be clear, Mr. Prescott has never engaged in any nonconsensual sexual conduct with anyone.”
The woman, identified as Victoria Shores, claimed in a letter that Dak Prescott sexually assaulted her in 2017, following the end of his rookie NFL season, stating he directed her to the back of a black SUV where he exposed himself.
Shores allegedly told Prescott she “did not want to engage in sexual intercourse and made sure to verbalize her wishes.”
“At this point,” the letter alleges, “you used physical force and sexually assaulted (the woman) by penetrating her vagina against her consent.”
“Despite the tragic events, she is willing to forego pursuing criminal charges, along with disclosing this information to the public, in exchange for compensating her for the mental anguish she has suffered.”
Her lawyers are demanding $100 million from Prescott, while his lawsuit accuses the woman and her legal team of attempting to extort him with “patently false, yet heinous sexual assault allegations with no basis in reality.”
“Defendants’ horrible lies not only threaten to destroy the legitimate legacy of a great man and cost him tens of millions of dollars, but Defendants’ conduct is criminal,” the suit argues. “Further, Mr. Prescott is forced to file the instant case to bring the truth to light, defend his new family, and promote our society’s collective progress in support of legitimate survivors of sexual assault. … the Defendant’s false claims undermine the courage of actual sexual assault survivors everywhere, as well as the legitimacy of the horrific traumas they have endured,” the press release states.
