DaniLeigh and DaBaby’s relationship has not been without its fair share of controversy, and now it appears the two have called it quits.
DaniLeigh took to her Instagram stories on Sunday, where she simply wrote, “officially single,” accompanied by a black heart emoji.
The pair went public with her relationship in December when the singer posted a now-deleted pic of her cuddled up on DaBaby. He returned the love in his Instagram Story. It’s speculated the two had been dating for about a year.
Then the singer was embroiled in controversy earlier this month when she shared a snippet of her new song called “Yellow Bone.” Many believed the song was a shot at his baby mama, MeMe, with whom he shares a daughter. DaniLeigh and MeMe have had several public back and forths on the internet during the time that Dani has been dating DaBaby.
DaniLeigh quickly got called out for colorism. At first, she defended the song, but she eventually apologized.
“It can be a personal thing to certain people ‘cause colorism is a real thing. But I’m not that. I’m not a colorist or a racist. I date a whole chocolate man. I have chocolate friends. Skin is not something I even see,” she said in her apology. “Because you don’t know me, it’s like let me tell you guys what I meant by that. Hopefully, you guys can watch it with an open heart and genuine mind. I’m sorry again. I offended people who are truly offended. I am sorry.”
Even her apology received backlash for her use of the term “chocolate man” when referring to her boyfriend, DaBaby.
