In a sit-down with Angie Martinez, DaniLeigh opened up about motherhood, her now-infamous Instagram fight with DaBaby and more.
As she reflected on the Instagram Live fight she had with ex-boyfriend DaBaby, whom she shares an 8-month-old daughter with, DaniLeigh said the incident was “very triggering.”
“It was very triggering, very sad,” the singer, 27, says. “I wish it didn’t happen because I don’t want my baby to see that later on in life. But she’ll grow to be her own person and to be able to take things in.”
When asked how she plans to explain the video to her daughter if she ever sees it when she’s older Dani said her answer would “depends on the type of person she grows up to be.”
“The only responsibility I have is to raise her to be a strong woman. She’ll feel how she feels, she’s her own person,”
The video which has been since deleted showed DaniLeigh and DaBaby having a heated exchange. As previously reported, the singer was charged with two counts of assault after DaBaby called the police on her.
Later in the interview, DaniLeigh admits her and Baby’s relationship was toxic.
“We broke up a lot. There was a lot of on and offs,” she told Martinez.
The singer also felt that DaBaby was trying to “make her look bad” with the IG Live and that he was being “very selfish,” adding that he’s not apologized since.
“He’s like that though,” she says.
She says now she’s focusing on moving on from the incident and co-parenting which she likes, calling it a “challenge on her maturity.”
“I’ve learned to love myself so much more,” she says. “Because I feel like I really did love him so much that I was just giving it all to him … I didn’t even focus on my career.”
Further in the interview, she reflected on the “Yellow Bone” song controversy, calling it a “horrible mistake.”
Closing out the interview, DaniLeigh shared she will be releasing an EP titled My Side which she calls “closure.”
After the interview aired, Meme, the mother of DaBaby’s first child shared a few words on Instagram.
“Side chick tried to turn main chick, while throwing rocks and hiding ya hand… an now looking for some sympathy from the world. FOH, my silence done saved a lot of face,” she said.
In a separate post, Meme called out trolls who she believe try to tear down her character. She also made claims of being attacked for over s year, but never played the victim.
“I sat my ass back and let everything unfold.”
She ended by saying she only speaks out after someone “came for” her first.
