Daycare Owner Arrested on Child Abuse Charges After Allegedly Hiding 26 Kids Behind Fake Wall

Blogged By: @dawnnnyy_

After a six week investigation, Colorado Day Care Owner, Carla Faith, along with three of her employees, were arrested for child negligence.

Back in November, the Colorado Springs police received an anonymous tip that Play Mountain Place, a daycare, was enabling more children than their license permitted. On Nov. 13, police arrived at the facility and discovered a false wall and behind it stood 26 children under the age of three in a basement.

“Officers immediately began working with DHS to release the children back to their parents,” said the Colorado Springs Police Department in a press release. According to People Magazine, “Police reports allege that many of the kids were sweating and visibly dehydrated. Some of them allegedly had wet or soiled diapers..”

Parents of 19 of the children have pressed charges against Faith claiming negligence.

Faith has been arrested on two counts of reckless child abuse without injury and one count of trying to influence a public servant.

Three of her employees – Katelynne Nelson, 31, Christina Swauger, 35, and Valerie Fresquez, 24 were also arrested on charges ranging from child abuse to unlawful possession of substances.

All women are currently out on bond.

No attorney was willing to speak on the party’s behalf.

Faith will appear before a judge on Jan. 2.
