Dennis Rodman says he is in the works to visit Russia to support WNBA star, Brittney Griner.
The former NBA player recently sat down with NBC News for an interview, discussing his upcoming travels. Rodman told the outlet that he got permission to travel to Russia. He added that the trip will be happening “sometime this week.”
“I got permission to go to Russia to help that girl,” he said. “I’m trying to go this week.”
In 2018, Rodman accompanied former President Donald Trump on his trip to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
If you recall, Griner was arrested in March by the Russian Federal Customs Service for having vape cartridges containing hashish oil inside her luggage.
This month, Griner was found guilty of charges including drug smuggling and possession. A Russian court sentenced the basketball player to nine years behind bars. After the verdict, Griner’s legal team filed an appeal against her conviction.
