Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez has gone to federal court asking for sanctions against her daughter, Demoree Hadley, and son-in-law, Javon Hadley, accusing them of leading a malicious online campaign to force her into paying millions, AllHipHop reports.
According to Perez’s legal filing in Miami, the Hadleys and their attorney, Hilton Napoleon, engaged in a “ruthless” strategy involving fabricated evidence, defamatory content, and social media bots. Her team says the purpose was to damage her reputation and create public pressure for a settlement.
The dispute began when Demoree Hadley sued her mother, claiming Perez abused Florida’s Baker Act and Marchman Act to have her committed despite negative drug tests. She also alleged her mother interfered in her marriage by fabricating claims of domestic violence.
Perez’s attorneys responded that the accusations were false, pointing to recordings of Javon Hadley in jail. In one call, he reportedly said, “We’re gonna make her settle. It’s a payday.” Her lawyers also dismissed claims of surveillance, saying the alleged bug was only a toy part.
Despite a gag order, the Hadleys allegedly promoted the hashtag #JusticeForDemoree across social media. Perez’s attorney, Barbara A. Martinez, said, “Millions of ‘JusticeForDemoree’ related posts and reposts have flooded social media, propagated by bots and content creators known to be paid for negative posts and false narratives.”
Perez maintains that her only concern has been protecting her daughter.
“Ms. Perez’s sole motivation at all times has been to rescue Ms. Hadley from a situation in which she was being beaten, coerced, and abused by Mr. Hadley,” Martinez stated.
Perez is now seeking dismissal of the case, legal fees, and restrictions on the Hadleys’ online activity.
