Producer DeVon Franklin and Netflix are partnering up to create a “faith-based feature” inspired by the COVID-19 recovery story of Northern Irish pastor Lee McClelland.
The feature will be about McClelland, a pastor that was diagnosed and hospitalized in the spring with COVID-19. When his health began deteriorating, the pastor started feeling that he was approaching death. It was then that a janitor, who worked at the hospital, came into his room and prayed over him.
The following day, he began to recover.
McClelland shared his story in a video on Facebook, which has received millions of views to date.
The Facebook video turned viral will be turned into a feature set to be produced by Franklin through his company Franklin Entertainment. Karen Peterkin will oversee and executive produce for Franklin Entertainment. Randy Brown, who previously worked with Franklin on Miracles From Heaven, will write the screenplay.
