Diddy is expressing remorse for his actions after a 2016 hotel video surfaced, showing him physically assaulting Cassie.
In an Instagram post, Diddy described his behavior as “inexcusable” and took “full responsibility” for his actions.
“It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life,” he said. “Sometimes you gotta do that. I was f*cked up. I mean, I hit rock bottom, but I make no excuses. My behavior in that video is inexcusable.”
He continued, “I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I was disgusted then, and I’m disgusted now. I sought professional help by going to therapy and rehab. I had to ask God for His mercy and grace. I’m so sorry, but I’m committed to being a better man every day.”
Diddy concluded by stating he’s “not asking for forgiveness” but is “truly sorry” for his actions.
The surveillance video, released on Friday, shows an altercation between Diddy and Cassie that aligns with allegations from a lawsuit she filed last November. In the video, Cassie is seen leaving a hotel room and heading towards an elevator. Moments later, Diddy appears, chases after her, grabs her by the neck, throws her to the ground, and repeatedly kicks her. He then drags her back to the hotel room before giving up and walking away. Additionally, the footage shows Diddy grabbing something off a nearby table and throwing it at Cassie.
According to the now-settled lawsuit, Cassie described a similar incident in 2016 at the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles. She alleged that “Mr. Combs became extremely intoxicated and punched Ms. Ventura in the face, giving her a black eye.”
The lawsuit states, “After he fell asleep, Ms. Ventura tried to leave the hotel room, but as she exited, Mr. Combs awoke and began screaming at Ms. Ventura. He followed her into the hallway of the hotel, grabbed at her, and threw glass vases at her, causing glass to shatter around them as she ran to the elevator to escape.”
Cassie’s attorneys revealed that she eventually made it to the elevator and later returned to her apartment.
