Diddy might be behind bars today, but a prison outfit he wore decades ago, in a movie, is hitting the auction block. The ensemble he donned as Lawrence Musgrove in the 2001 drama “Monster’s Ball” is up for grabs starting June 7th via GWS Auctions.
This isn’t Diddy’s current inmate look. Instead, it’s the gray hoodie, jeans (one leg cut off), and black canvas shoes from the Oscar-winning film that helped catapult Halle Berry into the history books as the first Black woman to win Best Actress. Diddy played a death row inmate whose story drives the early part of the film.
The auction includes a production tag noting which scenes the pieces were used in and a Letter of Provenance. The costume was sourced from Star Wares of Los Angeles, a reputable Hollywood memorabilia dealer.
But this sale comes as Diddy faces his own courtroom drama. He’s currently locked up at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, awaiting trial on federal charges including sex trafficking and racketeering. His ex, Cassie, and a former assistant known as “Mia” have already testified.
While his real-life prison wear remains off-limits, this throwback film fit could be the next best thing for the right bidder.
