Diddy scores another accolade as he receives the key to New York.
Mayor Eric Adams awarded this honor to the Bad Boy mogul on Friday, September 15, which happens to be the day Diddy released his first studio album in almost two decades. On that same evening, Diddy went on Instagram to share a video of himself clutching the key while inside his limousine, which was zooming through Times Square.
“Ayo New York. New York, we f*ckin’ did it!” he screamed in the video.
The announcement comes just a few days after Diddy received the Global Icon Award at the 2023 VMAs. During the ceremony, Diddy was nominated in four categories, including Best Hip Hop Song for “Gotta Move On (Queens Remix)” with Bryson Tiller, Ashanti, and Yung Miami, and Best R&B Song for his appearance on Metro Boomin’s “Creepin’ (Remix).
Additionally, Diddy also graced the awards show stage with a performance, marking his return to the VMAs stage since 2005 when he joined Snoop Dogg for an orchestral tribute to the late Notorious B.I.G.
On another note, Diddy also made headlines recently for returning the publishing rights back to his former artists. Reportedly, Diddy was presented with a substantial “nine-figure” offer for the music catalogs, but he declined the lucrative deal, opting instead to return the publishing rights to the artists.
