A New York state mother is demanding answers after finding blood on her Burger King order.
The shocking incident occurred on Friday when Tiffany Floyd of Sanborn took her newborn and 4-year-old to a Burger King in Getzville. After grabbing their food from the drive-thru, they traveled a little down the road when the older child brought the matter to Floyd’s attention.
“I went through the drive-thru, I handed my daughter the meal. About five minutes down the road, I heard, ‘Mommy, I didn’t want ketchup.’ I grabbed the bag back from her thinking they just messed up her meal,” Floyd told local outlet WKBW.
After examining the order, Floyd quickly realized the red substance was not ketchup but blood splattered everywhere.
“All over the hamburger, the fry, the toy,” Floyd stated, adding that her child had already eaten some of the fries before she learned of the blood.
Floyd immediately contacted the Burger King on Millersport Highway, where a manager confirmed that an employee cut their hand before cooking and preparing the order. Floyd says the restaurant lead offered her a refund, which she declined. In a statement, Burger King claimed the employee stepped away after the injury, though they’d bled all over Floyd’s order before doing so. The concerned mother detailed the ordeal in a TikTok that has gone viral, with over one million likes and 92,000 shares.

A complaint was filed with the Niagara County Department of Health, who then forwarded the matter to the Erie County Department of Health since Burger King was in its jurisdiction. The restaurant confirmed they closed over the weekend for a deep cleaning and reopened Monday. It’s unknown if Floyd will seek legal action or if other customers experienced blood on their food.
