Walt Disney Studios will be developing new versions of Fox classics such as “Diary of a Wimpy Kid,” “Night at the Museum” and “Home Alone” for its new streaming service, Disney+.
Fans have been sharing their thoughts on social media regarding a reboot of the 1990 film, and even the star of the film himself, Macaulay Culkin took to Twitter to express how he feels about the revival.
“This is what an updated Home Alone would actually look like,” he tweeted, along with a photo of himself lounging on a couch, surrounded by food. He followed up with the tweet, “Hey Disney, call me!”
Many #HomeAlone fans also jumped on Twitter, not only to praise Macaulay for his sense of humor in the matter but also to offer advice to Disney on what actors should play what character. However, some just slammed the remake altogether.
One Twitter user wrote, “What’s next a Titanic reboot where Jack and Rose meet on tinder and the Titanic sinks because someone was too busy uploading the iceberg to their Instagram story ???? #HomeAlone #StopwithRemakes #Titanic”. Another tweeted, “Hey Disney with all due respect leave #HomeAlone the fuck alone sincerely thee entire world.”
A very outside-the-box thinking Twitter user suggested, “#QuentinTarantino should do a Revenge-Remake where Harry and Marv try to kill him #HomeAlone #MacaulayCulkin.”
Even 90’s rapper #Magoo had something to say, tweeting, “Some movies are too hard to recreate = #HomeAlone #IncredibleCulk is the only Kevin! #Disney let him be the dad now? Only way this has a chance.”
Do you guys think Disney should remake ‘Home Alone,’ leave it alone or create a new story?
