The back-and-forth between DJ Akademiks and Ab-Soul just went from lyrical to lethal-sounding—at least in tone.
After Ab-Soul name-dropped the media personality in a new track, rapping he would “slap Akademiks when I see him,” the media figure took to Twitter with a fiery clapback that included a pointed reference to Nipsey Hussle. But Ak didn’t stop there. He took the conversation to Twitch, where his response got even more intense.

In a live rant, Akademiks didn’t mince words. He said flat out, “You try to slap me, it’s your last day on Earth.” He even went as far as to publicly give out an address in Jersey City, daring Ab-Soul to show up.
Akademiks repeatedly called Ab-Soul “goofy” and dismissed the threat as rap theatrics. “Maybe we’re just rapping,” he said, speculating the TDE artist wasn’t serious. But then, Ak turned the heat up again, adding, “I’ve been praying and begging for one of y’all rap n****s to give an example.”
The Twitch session was packed with aggression, frustration, and a lot of warnings. Ak challenged Ab-Soul to make good on his bars but warned that doing so would come with deadly consequences. “Stop rapping about doing s*** to people who ain’t talking about doing s*** to you,” he said bluntly.
So far, Ab-Soul hasn’t clapped back, but with Akademiks publicly escalating the situation and throwing down a challenge, eyes are now firmly on the TDE camp. Will Ab respond? Or will this moment become another example of rap beef staying strictly in the booth?
One thing’s for sure: DJ Akademiks isn’t letting this one slide without having the final word—or stream.
