DJ Akademiks is once again at the center of controversy after admitting to leaking Kendrick Lamar’s highly anticipated Super Bowl performance. Akademiks doubled down on his decision, claiming he hoped the leak would push Kendrick to make changes, but instead, the rapper “doubled down.”
Video:
Akademiks posted an “apology” to Kendrick, writing, “Sorry Kendrick that I leaked ur performance. I apologize. U did ya thing tho.” However, moments later, he followed up with another post explaining his reasoning. “I leaked Kendrick’s Super Bowl performance hoping he would change it… he ain’t do it… he doubled down. I’m wat the culture was feeling… I tried to save y’all from that.”
In a separate video, Akademiks revealed how he obtained the setlist, saying someone who worked at the arena sent it to him. “A na who worked at the fing arena is a chat n***a,” he claimed. He also stated that the NFL reached out to him with legal threats. “The NFL hit me. ‘Ak, we gonna sue you.’” Despite the warning, he continued to leak details about the performance, boasting that no journalist could compete with him.
Akademiks didn’t hold back in his disdain for Kendrick or the industry as a whole. “I don’t f*** with y’all. I don’t f*** with Kendrick. I don’t f*** with no artist. It’s gonna be like that for life,” he declared, making it clear that he has no regrets about his actions.
With Kendrick Lamar’s performance now officially aired, the internet is buzzing about whether Akademiks’ leak had any real impact. Either way, his latest stunt has certainly added fuel to his ongoing tension with the hip-hop world.
