DJ Mustard Says Ex-Wife’s Social Media Rants Are Hurting Their Kids, Demands Sole Custody

DJ Mustard is turning up the volume in his ongoing custody battle, asking a judge to grant him sole legal custody of his three children after alleging his ex-wife has repeatedly violated court orders with disparaging social media posts.

According to court documents, the hitmaking producer, whose real name is Dijon McFarlane, filed new paperwork claiming his ex-wife, Chanel Thierry, has publicly criticized him online in ways that negatively affect their children. The former couple share three kids, Kiylan, 13, Kauner, 10, and Kody, 6, and previously agreed to joint legal custody.

That earlier custody order included a clear restriction. Both parents were prohibited from speaking about each other in a “negative, disrespectful, or derogatory manner” in front of the children or within their hearing range. Mustard now alleges that Chanel crossed that line multiple times through social media activity.

In filings submitted by his attorney, Samantha Spector, Mustard points to a Threads post from October 26 in which Chanel wrote, “Dijon I know you are reading this, I’m so sick of your s***t You suck.” He also cites a follow-up post stating, “I’ve been divorced 3 years now, and my ex-husband continues to do things to purposely get under my skin … A man will treat your child according to how he feels about the mother. Mark my words.”

Mustard claims these remarks attract significant online attention and argues they harm the children’s best interests while disrupting healthy co-parenting. As a result, he is asking the court for sole legal custody and requesting $30,000 in sanctions against Chanel for allegedly violating court orders.

Mustard and Chanel married in 2020 and finalized their divorce in 2024. As part of the settlement, Chanel received a $315,000 one-time spousal support buyout, while Mustard was ordered to pay $24,500 per month in child support. Chanel has not publicly responded to the latest filing.
