As we all know, Donald Trump has been diagnosed with the coronavirus and is currently still recovering. Though he has declined to do the virtual debate, he has suggested that he organize a rally in Florida this Saturday, despite his positive diagnosis.
“I think I’m going to try doing a rally on Saturday night if we can if we have enough time to put it together,” he said, adding, “But we want to do a rally in Florida, probably in Florida on Saturday night, might come back and do one in Pennsylvania, on the following night.”
According to reports, at least one of his rallies in Tulsa, Oklahoma, has been linked to a spike in coronavirus cases. Most of his supporters have eschewed masks and continue to practice social distancing measures to help slow the spread of the disease.
Sean Hannity from Fox News asked Trump on Thursday if he has yet tested negative for the coronavirus, or if he even has been tested at all since he tested positive last week. Trump did not respond directly. Instead, he bragged about the experimental drugs he had been treated with. “Well, what we’re doing is, probably the test will be tomorrow. The actual test, because there’s no reason to test all the time,” he said.
During the interview, Trump spoke with a hoarse voice, and he paused at moments to cough. He constantly went from one right-wing talking point to the next. He then referred to abortions as “early term executions,” after reports confirmed that his treatments were developed using cells from aborted fetuses.
In the interview, Trump said of the virus, “You get better. That’s what happens, you get better.”
His physician, Dr. Sean Conley, says he expects Trump to return to the public Saturday even though he originally suggested to Trump that he stay away from the public until Monday. The CDC says Covid-19 patients can be around others after 10 days, provided that they do not have a fever in the previous 24 hours.
