The sinister El Paso, Texas, mass shooter who targeted Hispanics will spend the rest of his life in prison.
Patrick Crusius, the 24-year-old white gunman who carried out the heinous attack inside a Walmart store, has received 90 life sentences. The racist shooter went into the supermarket located on the U.S.-Mexico border on August 3rd, 2019, and hunted down unsuspecting shoppers. During the carnage, Crusius claimed the lives of 23 victims while injuring 22 others. Back in February, he’d pleaded to multiple hate crimes in an agreement that spared him from the death penalty at the federal level. However, he may still be sentenced to die in a separate state case.
On Friday, he learned his fate after days of statements from his victim’s families, each of which emotionally expressed the pain he’d inflicted. A judge ruled that Crusius serve his sentence at ADX Florence, a maximum security prison in Fremont County, Colorado. He was also ordered to receive mental health treatment once there, though judging by the careful planning of his actions, it is clear that the self-proclaimed white nationalist was well aware of his actions. He drove nearly 600 miles from Allen, Texas, to execute the violence. Just two months before carrying out one of the nation’s deadliest mass shootings, Crusius purchased a WASR-10 weapon and 1,000 rounds of 7.62 mm hollow-point bullets. Right before entering the store, he shared a racist rant on social media that targeted immigrants, another clear indication that the shooting was clearly planned.
