Elon Musk stirred up controversy once again after hinting he could face prison time if Vice President Kamala Harris defeats former President Donald Trump in the upcoming election. In a recent interview with Tucker Carlson, broadcast on X (formerly known as Twitter), Musk didn’t hold back his concerns about what a potential Harris victory might mean for him personally.
“If he loses, I’m f—ed,” Musk told Carlson, referring to Trump’s chances in the election. The world’s richest man even joked about the possibility of serving time, saying, “How long do you think my prison sentence is going to be? Will I see my children? I don’t know.”
The tech mogul, who took over X in 2022 with a $44 billion purchase, has publicly thrown his support behind Trump. Musk’s endorsement came shortly after a reported assassination attempt on the former president back in July. He even joined Trump at a recent rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, the same location where the alleged attempt took place. Musk’s appearance at the rally marked a significant alignment with Trump, as he continues to back the GOP candidate in various ways, including financially.
Musk, 53, has reportedly funneled millions into a super PAC supporting Trump’s campaign. Meanwhile, he’s also taken to X to criticize Harris, adding fuel to his political stance in the lead-up to the 2024 election. His vocal support of Trump has surprised some, especially as Musk continues to position himself as a powerful influencer on X, where he frequently shares his unfiltered opinions on politics and current events.
As the election approaches, Musk’s comments have sparked a wave of reactions, with many speculating on whether he genuinely fears legal repercussions or is simply using his platform to rattle the opposition. Either way, Musk’s involvement in the political arena has only intensified, and all eyes are on him as he navigates his role in one of the most polarized elections in recent history.
