New York City Mayor Eric Adams is addressing claims of his alleged allegiance to Donald Trump following his indictment on bribery charges.

The embattled mayor appeared on “The View,” where host Sunny Hostin confronted him about his apparent support for Trump. Hostin directly asked Adams whether his actions were an attempt to gain “political favor” in light of his legal troubles.
“Listen, I said it over and over again. I did nothing wrong. I spent 40 years of my life, 22 of them as a police officer, protecting the children and family of the city. I’m consistent of that. I live my life the way I expect everyday New Yorkers are supposed to live their life.” However, his statement avoided directly addressing Hostin’s question.
Adams was indicted in September on charges of bribery, campaign finance violations, and conspiracy. He is accused of secretly soliciting and receiving unlawful campaign contributions and other gifts from affluent foreigners, including Turkish officials, dating back to 2014. In exchange, Adams allegedly pressured the Fire Department of New York to green-light the opening of a Turkish consular building in the city without conducting a proper fire inspection.
Following Trump’s re-election earlier this month, Adams publicly congratulated him and his running mate, JD Vance. He also pledged to collaborate with the administration to enhance public safety and infrastructure in New York City.
