Erika Kirk made a major political move this week when she publicly endorsed Vice President JD Vance for the 2028 presidential election.
Speaking at AmericaFest in Arizona, the first large Turning Point USA event since her husband Charlie Kirk’s tragic death, Erika pledged the organization’s full support behind Vance’s potential campaign.
She told the crowd, “We are going to get my husband’s friend JD Vance elected for 48 in the most resounding way possible.”
Turning Point USA, founded by Charlie Kirk in 2012, has become one of the most influential conservative organizations in the United States. Known for mobilizing younger voters and shaping modern Republican strategies, the group played a critical role in Trump’s elections and continues to be a force in GOP politics. Erika’s endorsement positions Vance as a prominent figure with access to this powerful network.
While JD Vance has not formally announced a presidential run, he has expressed openness to the idea after focusing on the vice presidency and the 2026 midterms.
Speaking in a recent interview, he said, “We’re going to win the midterms, we’re going to do everything that we can to win the midterms, and then after that, I’m going to sit down with the president of the United States and talk to him about it. But let’s focus on the now.”
Vance has also recognized Charlie Kirk’s significant influence on his political career.
Following Kirk’s death on September 10 at a Utah Valley University event, Vance reflected, “So much of the success we’ve had in this administration traces directly to Charlie’s ability to organize and convene. He didn’t just help us win in 2024, he helped us staff the entire government.”
Erika Kirk’s endorsement comes alongside support from other key figures in the GOP. Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently told Vanity Fair that he would support Vance if he ran for president.
“If JD Vance runs for president, he’s going to be our nominee, and I’ll be one of the first people to support him,” Rubio said. Former President Donald Trump also praised Vance, saying he and Rubio would be “great” options for the 2028 election and suggesting that a coalition between them would be “unstoppable.”
With Turning Point USA behind him, Vance could leverage the organization’s grassroots reach and political clout to build momentum ahead of 2028.
