Former LSU star Kyren Lacy has passed away just months after being charged in a fatal hit-and-run accident.
Details on his death are limited now, but several outlets have claimed Lacy took his own life. This has not yet been verified. However, WAFB-TV Sports Director Jacques Doucet did confirm with the family that Lacy died in Houston.

As you may recall, the 24-year-old was charged with negligent homicide after allegedly being involved in a felony hit-and-run in December 2024. Police say Lacy entered the northbound lane in a no-passing zone, causing a head-on collision with a 2017 Kia Cadenza, driven by 78-year-old ex-Marine, Herman Hall. Lacy allegedly pulled off without offering aid or calling for help. Just two days after the crash, Lacy declared for the 2025 NFL Draft.
As a result, he was not invited to the NFL Combine to showcase his talents, but he did recently participate in the LSU Pro Day in Baton Rouge.
Close friend and overseas basketball player Rontrell Sandolph remembered Lacy in a lengthy Instagram post, writing, “I’m so lost for words. I’m speechless. I went to sleep 4 times and woke up to see if that was a dream.”
