Ex-Washington Wizards and Golden State Warriors pro-Ryan Rollins has been charged with stealing items from a Virginia Target store multiple times.

According to court documents, Rollins took several small items that totaled less than $1,000 on seven different occasions between September 9th, 2023, and November 9th, 2023. Thankfully for him, that classifies his shoplifting charges as misdemeanors. Still, the string of incidents is extremely troubling for an NBA player with a comfortable salary.

The Wizards waived Rollins on Monday, January 8th, but was oddly still on the team when the thefts took place. Rollins is guaranteed a salary of $1.7 million for the 2023-24 season. Additionally, despite being waived, he is entitled to receive $600,000 from his 2024-25 salary, which makes him stealing items such as groceries, body wash, and candles even more baffling.

Rollins, a former college basketball standout with the Toledo Rockets, entered the NBA scene after declaring for the 2022 draft. Initially chosen by the Atlanta Hawks, he later found himself traded to the Golden State Warriors. Unfortunately, his debut season with the Warriors was cut short in February 2023 due to surgery. In a surprising move in July of the same year, Rollins, along with fellow players Jordan Poole and Patrick Baldwin Jr., was traded to the Wizards. Even with so much movement, his journey in the NBA has so far been underwhelming, which saw him playing 12 games with the Warriors and 10 with the Wizards.

Rollins has been charged with seven counts of petit larceny over the alleged theft. He has not yet entered a plea. Rollins has since turned his Instagram comments off, which is probably for the best.
