Lil Durk’s recent apprehension in Florida has prompted a new statement from the Dinizulu Law Group, representing the estate of FBG Duck, whose real name is Carlton Weekly.
The law firm made headlines this month due to a wrongful death lawsuit linked to Duck’s 2020 death. On Friday, they asserted that Durk’s charges signifies they are “one step closer to justice.” The attorneys, speaking on behalf of Duck’s estate, also criticized multiple record labels for their role in allegedly facilitating violent crimes.
“Despite repeated warnings and numerous violent incidents, record labels Alamo Records, Sony Music Entertainment Inc., Empire Distribution Inc., and Universal Music Group Recordings Inc. d/b/a Interscope Records chose to fuel, finance, and develop brands with Lil Durk, OTF, and King Von, undeterred by overwhelming evidence of violent criminal activity,” the firm wrote.
Several people have been convicted in Duck’s slaying, all of which have affiliations to Durk and Von. Durk has been indicted in connection with a separate murder-for-hire conspiracy in California. The indictment outlines a pattern of alleged violence associated with Durk and his group, Only the Family (OTF). It cites prior incidents, including a 2019 shooting in Atlanta and the 2020 killing of Duck, as well as the 2022 attempted killing of Quando Rondo.
The “All My Life” star’s arrest followed news that five individuals, allegedly linked to OTF, were implicated in the conspiracy aimed at Rondo. However, they killed his affiliate, Luh Pab, instead. Durk was taken into custody on Thursday, with murder-for-hire listed as the charge in public jail records. His team has not yet spoken out about the legal matter.
