The FBI is now assisting in the search for a missing 19-year-old college student in Orlando, Florida.
Miya Marcano went missing last Friday from the Arden Villas Luxury Apartments complex in Orlando. She was last seen on September 24 around 5 p.m.Â
Sheriff John Mina said during a press conference that the bureau is lending technology to aid the search for Marcano. Other local agencies have provided dive teams and specially trained dogs.
“We’ve been in contact with Miya’s family and friends every single day, numerous times a day, trying to keep them updated on everything that we’re doing,” Mina said.
In Marcano’s case, Armando Manuel Caballero, a person of interest, had been found dead of an apparent suicide Monday. Caballero, 27, was employed as a maintenance worker at the apartment complex where Marcano worked and lived.Â
Authorities discovered that Caballero had used a master key to access Marcano’s apartment without her permission during the investigation. He had expressed a romantic interest in Marcano, which she repeatedly rejected.
The sheriff said that they are not looking for any other people connected to Marcano’s disappearance at this point in the investigation. Caballero was the main person of interest, and his death further complicates the case.Â
Marcano was last seen wearing a red shirt, black hoodie, and jeans at her apartment complex. People with information about the case are encouraged to call the Central Florida Crimeline at 407-836-4357.
