FBI Releases New Video Footage Of Suspect Who Placed Pipe Bombs Outside RNC And DNC

The FBI released new video footage on Tuesday showing an individual placing pipe bombs outside the Republican National Committee and Democratic National Committee headquarters the day of the Capitol insurrection.

The two pipe bombs were placed outside the RNC and DNC the night before the Capitol riot took place, between 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. One of the devices was placed in an alley behind the RNC, and the other was left next to a bench outside of the DNC.

The video shows an individual wearing a face mask and a grey hooded sweatshirt. The bureau previously released photos of the person, including the distinctive light grey Nike Air Max Speed Turf shoes with a yellow logo.

The FBI is asking for the publicā€™s assistance in identifying the person in the video.

ā€œThe American people have provided invaluable assistance in this investigation, and the FBI and our law enforcement partners are very grateful for that cooperation,ā€ said Steven M. Dā€™Antuono, assistant director in charge of the FBIā€™s Washington Field Office in a statement. ā€œWe still believe there is someone out there who has information they may not have realized was significant until now.ā€

ā€œWe know it can be a difficult decision to report information about family or friendsā€”but this is about protecting human life,ā€ he added. ā€œThese pipe bombs were viable devices that could have been detonated, resulting in serious injury or death. We need the publicā€™s help to identify the individual responsible for placing these pipe bombs to ensure they will not harm themselves or anyone else.ā€

The FBI is offering up a $100,000 reward for information, leading to identifying the person who placed the pipe bombs. Tips can remain anonymous. The bureau is asking people to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI or submit information online at Tips.fbi.gov.
