Google has officially received FDA clearance for the Pixel Watch 3’s Loss of Pulse Detection feature, paving the way for its rollout in the U.S. by the end of March.
This critical health feature is designed to detect when a user loses their pulse due to emergencies like a heart attack or overdose. If no response is received after a prompt, the watch will automatically contact emergency services. Google’s senior director of product management for Pixel wearables, Sandeep Waraich, previously confirmed that the watch can differentiate between an actual loss of pulse and someone simply removing the device.
Loss of Pulse Detection has been available in the European Union since September 2024, but regulatory approvals are required before expansion into other regions. Whether it reaches additional markets will depend on clearance from local health authorities.
