A New York-based frozen food company is recalling ice cream products due to potential contamination with listeria.
On Thursday, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration recalled the Real Kosher brand Soft Serve On The Go. The investigation by the FDA pertains to the ice cream, which has been distributed across 19 states, including Washington, D.C. After consuming the ice cream, individuals in New York and Pennsylvania experienced an illness that required hospitalization. Real Kosher has temporarily halted the production of the ice cream while awaiting the completion of the FDA’s investigation. The company reassured that their other offerings remain safe for consumption.
“Our highest priority is the safety and well-being of our customers, which is why we have decided to recall all Soft Serve on the Go Cups,” the company said. “Soft Serve on the Go Cups are manufactured at their own dedicated facility. No other products are affected by this recall.”
Real Kosher has provided a list of ice cream flavors that are part of the recall. These include Vanilla Chocolate, Razzle, Caramel, Vanilla Chocolate, Sorbet Strawberry Mango, and Lite Peanut Butter. Additionally, the ice cream was available for purchase in the following states: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington D.C.
Individuals who possess the affected ice cream are advised to dispose of or return it. Retailers carrying the product must conduct an inventory check and discard the cups. Subsequently, they should communicate the number of cups discarded to Real Kosher to facilitate the refunds.
