Fear of God Athletics, a sport-focused footwear collaboration between Fear of God (FoG) and Adidas, has recently announced its second basketball silhouette, “Fear of God Athletics Basketball II.” Scheduled to release next month, the sneaker will debut in a “night brown” shade and will be available in two versions, high-top and mid-cut.
The design of the Basketball II draws inspiration from multiple influences, from Adidas’ Sobakov sneaker to the past designs of FoG’s founder, Jerry Lorenzo, and even a hint of Kanye West’s YEEZY. Both versions of the sneaker feature a minimalistic yet bold design, from the high-top’s distinctive collar to the mid-cut’s sleek look.
Additionally, both shoes sit on top of a thick, semi-translucent midsole that will likely feature Adidas’ cushioning technologies like BOOST or Lightstrike. The Basketball II also includes co-branding on the heel and toe, adding a refined touch. The added detail makes the sneaker perfect for time on the court, as well as streetwear-savvy customers.
Basketball II follows Fear of God Athletics I, which was highly praised for its style but criticized for its on-court performance. As a result, the inaugural sneaker was a tough sale due to its heaviness and lack of technology. However, the latest edition has already gained some attention within the basketball world, especially since Los Angeles Lakers guard Gabe Vincent wore them during an NBA game.
Nonetheless, the focus of Basketball II is to expand the Fear of God Athletics lineup while transforming the traditional basketball shoe. So, whether you’re a sneakerhead or an athlete looking for a high-performing shoe, the Basketball II will not disappoint. Be on the lookout for the official release date, which is coming soon.
