Federal Protective Service Officer Killed and One Officer Injured In Shooting Amid Protest In Oakland

A Federal Protective Service Officer was killed Friday night after suffering from a gunshot wound amid protests in Oakland, California.

Around 9:45 p.m., a vehicle pulled up to the Ronald V. Dellums Federal Building and began shooting at the security officers for the Federal Protective Service of the Department of Homeland Security, according to the FBI.

Officials have stated that one officer was killed and another was injured.

According to SFGate, The Oakland Police Department and FBI are working together on an investigation, and no other information was made available.

Thousands gathered in Oakland for a protest over the killing of George Floyd. The peaceful protest turned into chaos, leaving 18 arrested by the Oakland Police Department and four arrested by other agencies. Sixty suspected looters were also detained for further investigation.
