The federal investigation into the alleged kidnapping and robbery of Gucci Mane has reached a critical stage.
While the Atlanta-based label founder has yet to comment on the January incident, law enforcement has successfully tracked down every individual named in the federal indictment. The final suspect, Terrance Rodgers, was apprehended in Atlanta by FBI agents on Thursday, marking a major milestone in the multi-state investigation.
His arrest fills the final gap for federal prosecutors, who had previously taken eight other suspects into custody across Nashville, Memphis, and Dallas. Among those facing charges are Memphis rapper Pooh Shiesty, his father Lontrell Williams Sr., and rapper Big30. With the full group now accounted for, a Memphis judge ruled on Friday that there is sufficient probable cause to proceed with the legal case against the defendants.
The foundation of the federal complaint rests on allegations of a planned ambush. Prosecutors claim that Pooh Shiesty, who signed with Gucci Mane’s 1017 Records in 2021, used a scheduled business meeting to orchestrate a violent confrontation.
According to court documents, the January 10 incident involved an armed takeover of a Dallas recording studio, where victims were allegedly robbed of cash, Rolex watches, and other jewelry at gunpoint.
Investigators allege that the motive behind the attack was a contract dispute. The government contends that the defendants used intimidation and firearms to force Gucci Mane to sign paperwork releasing Pooh Shiesty from his recording agreement. Prosecutors have built their case on a combination of surveillance footage, rental car data, and electronic monitoring records, noting that some defendants allegedly live-streamed items taken during the robbery.
Given the severity of the charges, which include conspiracy to commit kidnapping, the defendants face the possibility of life in federal prison if convicted.
