Finally! Michael Jordan’s Mega-Mansion Finds a Buyer After 12 Years on the Market

After 12 years on the market, the mega-mansion belonging to legendary former Chicago Bulls superstar Michael Jordan has officially found a buyer. 

Originally hitting the market in 2012 with a staggering price tag of $29 million, the Highland Park, Chicago estate has recently been trimmed to just below $14.9 million.  While the final sale price remains under wraps, it could hinge on renovations and other elements in the next 20 to 30 days.  Excitingly, the buyer is an end-user rather than a developer, meaning they are likely looking to make the mansion their forever home. 

Custom-built in the mid-1990s for Jordan and his then-wife, Juanita Vanoy, this architectural marvel sprawls over 7.4 acres of prime real estate that the couple acquired for a mere $2 million back in the day. Behind the iconic iron gates emblazoned with “23,” Jordan’s legendary jersey number, lies a contemporary two-level home that boasts a jaw-dropping 56,000 square feet of living space.

The unique home includes five cozy fireplaces, a stylish office space, a dining area with a massive aquarium, a library with a drop-down movie screen, and even a cigar room with poker tables.  There are nine bedrooms and 19 bathrooms, and for the fitness enthusiasts, there’s a fully equipped gym and a regulation-sized basketball court featuring MJ’s iconic Air Jordan logo right in the center.  Adding another special touch, the exclusive doors salvaged from the original Playboy Mansion in Chicago are also included.  Plus, there’s a separate three-bedroom guest or staff residence and an expansive garage that can accommodate up to 14 vehicles.

Now worth an estimated $3 billion, the Hall of Famer has been happily married to his Cuban-American model wife, Yvette Prieto, for 11 years. The couple maintains luxurious residences in Jupiter, Florida, where they recently splurged on a second mansion for $16.5 million in the exclusive Bear’s Club enclave, as well as stunning properties in Utah and along North Carolina’s picturesque Lake Norman.
