Thirteen people were rescued from a rollercoaster at the San Antonio SeaWorld after the ride left them stuck in the air for more than three hours.
Early in the afternoon on Sunday, firefighters were called to the park to help rescue guests from the stalled rollercoaster Wave Breaker: The Rescue Coaster. According to WOAI, the ride became stuck high up and at a slight right angle. The tallest part of the coaster stands at 61 feet, according to SeaWorld.
Firefighters used a cherry picker to get all of the passengers down from the ride. Each passenger was brought done one by one, and it took over three hours to get everyone to safety.
“Consistent with our established safety protocols, we worked with the San Antonio Fire Department to safely evacuate all guests on the ride,” a spokesperson for SeaWorld said in a statement to the outlet on Sunday. “We apologize for the guest’s inconvenience. The safety of our employees and guests is our top priority.”
